This is largely a collection of stories written by many people over a period of many years. Some of the topics covered are: land acquisition; first road; first school; first sawmills; Michael Simmons founding of Tumwater, WA; shingle industry; churches; businesses and stores. It includes some biographical sketches of pioneering families such as the: Jacksons, Huntingtons, Burbees, Gardiners, Whittles and Simmons. The biographical sketches contain family group sheets, pictures and often continue through the second generations' stories. The history of the Henry Jackson family is especially detailed because of the family connection to the compiler, Leland G. Jackson. Leland G. Jackson is the great grandson of Henry Jackson.
